From ogealagain at juno.com Sun Jul 10 08:17:02 2011 From: ogealagain at juno.com (ogealagain at juno.com) Date: Sun, 10 Jul 2011 12:17:02 GMT Subject: [Pennsic] Pennsic camp expectations Message-ID: <20110710.081702.19029.0@webmail21.vgs.untd.com> Greetings, I am very late on sending this out, but here it goes. Below is a list of expectations for camping in the group. Their intent is to guild us through an enjoyable two weeks together. Pleases review them and send to me your tent size plus ropes, any shade pavilion, request to camp next to someone or preferred area, and your expected arrival / departure dates and times. This year we are going to try to put the late night people in the front of the camp and others with children farther back from the road. Please respond even if you have previously given me the needed information. I want to make sure everyone receives this. I look forward to seeing all of you. 19 more days !! Thank you, Padraig Pennsic XXXX (2011) Encampment Rules -- borrowed/gathered/gleaned from a number of sources. The following list of rules are to ensure an enjoyable camping experience and to avoid any misunderstanding of how the camp will run. 1. All camp members are expected to join the Caer Adamant Pennsic Yahoo! group. This is our primary means of communication. (Go to the Caer-Adamant website and click on "e-mail lists") 2. Once settled, all camp members are expected to wear a reasonable attempt at "Period" clothing while in camp. 3. Everyone will have an opportunity to fill and light the communal tiki torches, clean up the fire pit and common areas, and take trash to the dumpster. The camp fee pays for supplies, not service. 4. Fires (in the fire pit) must be attended at all times. Fires in tents are frowned upon. Request: Please bring fire extinguisher if you have one. We have one at the shower trailer but extras around camp would be good. 5. Clean up after yourself. To avoid the appearance of issuing an open invitation to local mammalian residents, please clean dishes and secure trash and food. That said, cleaning up the morning after a party is perfectly understandable. 6. NO SMOKING IN THE PORTA-JOHNS! It is a confined space and the smoke lingers. 7. No whining. No psycho-drama. This is our holiday. Be happy! 8. When you enter someones personal camp site/pavialion you are in their "living room". Please keep that in mind. 9. If in doubt, Camp Daddy Padraig has the final word. Camp fee/tax has yet to be determined.(Probably $25.00) This year we will have a Culligan water-softening system, which will make it unnecessary for camp members to purchase bottled water (this system makes even Pennsic water wonderful). The shower trailer plus external shower, both with hot water. A common dish washing area by the shower trailer. A stock pile of fire wood for the fire pit will be on hand. Tiki torches will be used to light the common walking areas. And we pay a fee to keep the shower trailer parked up there all year. Additionally, as more campers join us, our space will become tighter. We have enjoyed a fairly open encampment in the past, but that has change. Expect to be required to give up 20% (or more if you can) of your 250 square foot allotment to accommodate fire pit, walking/driving lanes, water point and showers, etc. Our site enjoys a fair amount of shade, but with that comfort comes uneven terrain. Understand that your tent location will likely have bumps, dips, stumps, and tilts. Additionally, while we will do our best to eradicate poison ivy, we can not guarantee your location will be poison ivy free. In other words, come prepared! It is necessary for me to have your shelter size ( including ropes), expected day and time of arrival / departure, and any request for particular set up sites(previous use gets preference). This info is needed a minimum of two weeks before Pennsic. Earlier is helpful. This year we are going to try setting the late night people at the road side of the camp and the quitter folks in the back. This is intended to prevent late night returns from waking others. and also keep the younger ones away from the road. If you have a preference to where your tent site is let me know! I will do what I can. I hope to see all previous campers and we welcome new folks to our little hamlet in the woods. Pennsic bound, Padraig O'Gealagain P.S.
