A reminder: the final Spring Thynge site prep is Thursday, 14 April at 5:00 p.m. Many hands are needed to erect pavilions, shades, set-up tables and chairs, tape off parking, throwing weapons and archery ranges, etc. Please plan to help, if even for a bit. Even if you are unable to attend Thursday, do plan to come on Saturday. You do not have to be an archer or a thrown weapons fan -- come, hang out, enjoy the company, partake of the dayboard and stay for the potluck feast. It is sure to be a wonderful day! That being said it was an enjoyable day for friends to gather around the barn. Some archery and throwing weapons did take place before the weather took over. I would like to thank Amari for all her help as Deputy Autocrat. The many people who helped with set up and target painting. Lord Krey and Wolf for putting together a delicious dayboard. And Johnathan cooked some very tender pork loins for the pot luck. I was very touched by the amount of people that came out regardless of the forecast. That's what makes this Shire what it is .There were even folks from the D.C. and Balt. area. Now they are die hard Archers. Pappy , thanks for helping me get the tents down, and put away dry Sunday afternoon. I took care of most of the rest but there are some targets left in the woods and some clean up in the kitchen left to be done. Possibly that could be done Thursday evening, along with our Archery practice from 5:00 pm till dusk. Location is variable due to Smyrna site availability. Will use Shire of Caer Adamant Google calendar for changes to enable non-fighters to attend as well. Still not receiving emails on Caer-Adamant.org account. * * *Minister of Arts and Sciences *(Margaret): We had a Duct Tape double class last month at Mistress Hedewigis's home that I can happily declare a success. Four victims...er...volunteers were taped up and now have custom dressmaker's dummies for fitting garb. A request was made that we do at least one more class which I am happy to schedule. On a more personal note, Baron Simon has made it home from Korea and while I reeeeeeally like you guys, he's only here until the 5th and has claimed my attention. My apologies for my absence. Extra: Marietta held a successful Gothic fitted gown workshop for Sybil and Veronica. * * *Chatelaine *(Magdalena): Chatelaine report filed to Kingdom on time. Two new people at Spring Thynge, 2 comped. Dover Days is on, without a fee (Adolphus clarified with the tourist bureau on our behalf). Shoshana, Hedewigis and Amari volunteered. * * *Seneschal *(Hedewigis): Quarterly report to Kingdom submitted on time. Thank you to all who came, worked, and paid to make our swampy Spring Thynge as much of a success as possible. As one attendee put it, it was amazingly wet, amazingly windy, and amazingly, fun was had. * * *Herald *(Shoshona): No real business. Reading, studying, having fun. Push next month for major submissions. New books donated by Alison, Lisa, and Hedewigis. Will put in bookplates, and maintain a list online as a Shire heraldry lending library. Children's heraldry colouring project will be available at Dover Days. *Chronicler *(Alesky): Fort Knights coming. Will send to Populace list, Yahoo list and place in the files section of the Yahoo groups. Will be added to the website as able. *Old Business**:* *- Spring Thynge* (Padraig and Amari)- It rained. People enjoyed themselves nonetheless. Pappy helped Sunday to put canvas away. Additional take-down will take place at first archery practice. The event highlighted the need to develop a kitchen cleaning/closedown procedure as well as instructions for the putting the grill away between events. Both will be included in the event binder. Additionally, a designated staff needs to be identified, rather than relying on volunteers, to ensure the site owner is not stuck with the work. *- EK Wiki and Duct Tape Dummy Workshops *were a success. *- Dover Days *(Magdalena): please contact Magdalena if you are going to participate. *- Swamp Thynge:* Aiden will meet with the ranger at Blackbird State Park to look at the property. *New Business/Announcements**:* *- EK University (fall) *is seeking a site/bid. Will look for potential sites. - *Pennsic: * - teachers: registration is still open to be included in the course book. - a Land Agent is needed to handle Land Grab/negotiations for the "shire" site. *- Crown Tourney* will have children's activities. *- Google Docs:* briefly discussed the possibility of moving Shire documents to a Google docs account rather than the website or the Yahoo groups site. Will continue to look into it. *- Demo opportunity*: Aiden raised the possibility of a small demo at Sully's Pub in Middletown. Meeting attendees checked out the site and agree a demo is possible. Details to come later. *Upcoming Activities**: * please check the website for directions. * * *Fighter Practice:* every Sunday 1 - 4 p.m. Location varies.
