Message-ID: For some reason this did not post earlier. ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ Good evening. As previously announced, the monthly Games gathering has found a new home with Donna and Pappy. Same date (first Sunday, unless otherwise notified), same time (5:00 - 9:00 p.m.), same focus (games, socializing, games, socializing, games...). All that has changed is the location. 120 Belmont Avenue Apt. 2 Wilmington, DE 19804 Per Donna: We have a one bedroom apartment with street parking at the corner of Belmont and Mary streets. There are no pets, and no air conditioning, and there will likely be some dust. It would be nice if everyone would either bring a game to share for the evening, or bring ideas on games we can make for future games nights. There will be beer, wine, general alcohol selections, water, coffee and hot tea. There will be food - not certain what yet. If you prefer not to use a plastic red throw-away cup, please bring your own - our storage is limited. Garb is up to your comfort level and discretion - street parking involves some walking. .......... For those not familiar with the area, Donna and Pappy live close to Maryland Avenue and Route 100/South DuPont Road in Wilmington. Google Maps provides reasonable directions. The Shire website will be updated with directions, but in the meantime, please consult paper or on-line maps. Hope to see you there on Sunday, and thank you again to Pappy and Donna for taking on this Gathering. In service, ~ Hedewigis. -- Linda O. Lady Marietta will show us about fake hair in our period. I will have some hair on hand, but let me know by Sunday evening if you would like me to pick up some more. As always, you are encouraged to come and work on whatever project you have. The next Business Meeting is this Wednesday, 15 June, from 6:45 - 7:45 at the Corbit-Calloway Library in Odessa. Agenda items include Swamp Thynge, Pennsic, a report on the most recent Curia, upcoming demos, a donation to the American Heart Association, and more. Please let me know by Monday evening if you have additional items to put on the agenda. Wednesday 15 June (midnight) is also the final day for Pennsic pre-registration. Please contact Baron Padraig (ogealagain at juno dot com) if you would like to camp with the "Shire of Caer Adamant" group this year. Pennsic XL is already at a record level for pre-regs, so land will be at a premium. If you have any hope of going you should pre-reg -- the camp will not be able to accommodate non-pre-registered campers. In service, ~ Hedewigis. -- Linda O. As you may or may not know, Lord Aiden MacLeod has been in touch with Blackbird State Forest and we will be using that site for Swamp Thynge this year! Yay! Now that I've got that out there, we need to plan it :) Anyone willing to volunteer for these following positions please contact me directly at marietta.sca AT gmail.com or text or call (302) 740-5343. If I don't receive actual volunteers by July 1 I will start asking specific people for help :) I'd rather do it with volunteers! Also, if there is something you are interested in trying, but are not yet ready to do it on your own, please let me know and I can probably get you a "backer" for lack of a better term, to aid you along the way (i.e. Archery MIC, TW MIC, or Head Cook for Saturday dayboard, Saturday potluck dinner, or Sunday dayboard). Head Cook (3 total, Saturday dayboard, Saturday potluck and Sunday dayboard) Head Troll Marshal in Charge Heavy Marshal in Charge Fencing (if any interest) Marshal in Charge Thrown Weapons Marshal in Charge Archery Set up Clean up Any A&S Activities (display, competition, etc.) I ask that you contact me because I'm keeping the list of who is doing what :) Otherwise, you can please feel free to direct any questions to either Lord Aiden or Mistress Margaret as Deputy Autocrats. Thank you and I hope to hear from several of you very soon! I have heard through the grapevine that Lord Aiden will in fact not be available as Deputy Autocrat for this year's Swamp Thynge. What does that mean to you? First off, don't contact him with questions :) Choose either Mistress Margaret or me. What this also means to you, if you are an interested party, is that he will not be available to run the Shire Championship Tournament. I am hoping to find a volunteer to take the lead on this. Obviously this person need not be our current Shire Champion, but a resident of the Shire would be ideal. I believe in past years the current Champion would not enter the Tournament being run, but in this case, whoever chooses to run it should still be able to enter to give all who wish an opportunity to serve. Also, I think for our purposes this year even a non-fighter ought to be able to organize and run the Tournament.
